The London point of exchange of Internet traffic LINX (London Internet Exchange Network) decided to turn off Megafon and Rostelecom. Because of this measure, traffic will now go through Asia and will be slower.

The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia stated that the disconnection of companies will not affect the speed and quality of the connection of domestic mobile operators.

Rostelecom assured that the network infrastructure has been designed for reliable operation and traffic provision for a long time, the company has reserves and alternative routes for traffic exchange with foreign sites.

And the megaphone noted that already this year it was planned to terminate cooperation with this organization and began a systematic redistribution of traffic, due to a significant decrease in Internet traffic passing through London IX.
