In technology, waves are disturbances or oscillations that travel through a medium (air, cables, space) and carry energy or information.

There are 2 main categories relevant to tech:

Mechanical Waves (need a medium — like sound in air, vibrations in solids).

Electromagnetic Waves (no medium needed — they travel through space — like WiFi, radio, light).
