Apple wants to introduce a subscription to its equipment
The other day, the media reported that Apple wants to introduce a subscription to its equipment, including the iPhone. A senior Morgan Stanley analyst has now revealed why the company would need it.
Morgan Stanley's Cathy Huberty believes that if the rumors about the Apple hardware subscription are true, it will have a very positive effect on the value of Apple's stock.
The analyst believes that the iPhone subscription program may have multiple tariffs. For example, the cheapest plan will allow you to get an outdated iPhone every 24 months, while higher plans will likely give you access to newer devices and other perks.
What is the advantage of this model? Huberty notes that this model can shorten equipment replacement cycles. Apple would also benefit from increasing the amount of money a single user spends, as well as shifting more customers to a direct-to-customer model, bypassing carriers and retailers.
