Android 17 - Changes and Updates



Android 17 deserved a full stage presentation.. I still can't believe Android 17 never got a proper keynote at Google I/O.

First they did a separate Android Show event where they talked about almost everything except Android 17, their MAIN OS. Then during the actual Google I/O keynote, they STILL barely talked about Android 17 at all.

Instead, Google quietly posted a “What’s New in Android” page on their website that linked to an unlisted YouTube video (now public).

Like… what even was this strategy?

We all were expecting a proper Android 17 keynote covering all the important stuff in detail:

• New blur/transparency UI effects
• Sideloading & security changes
• New privacy features
• Performance improvements
• UI refinements
• Lock screen & multitasking changes
• AI integrations
• Material 3 Expressive evolution
• Tablet/foldable optimizations
• Everything else coming with the OS

This is literally the biggest Android update of the year and somehow it felt like Google didn’t even want to present it on stage properly.
